Thinking about taking up a new hobby? Learning how to play an instrument is fun at any age. Maybe you already play and want to improve your skills?

The Guitar World offers lessons for all skill levels by qualified instructors in a private learning environment. We design a program that is suited to your style and pace and, above all, we make sure it's fun! Beacuse isn't that what playing music is supposed to be all about?

We're happy to announce that we are now offering Vocal Lessons at our Milton and Mississauga locations. Please Contact Us for more details.

THE GUITAR WORLD LESSONS FAQ

I want to enroll my child into an after school activity but can’t decide which one. Are music lessons a good idea?

Absolutely! The advantages to learning a musical instrument are endless. Studies have shown that music can help a child develop the left side and right side of the brain, leading to better comprehension of mathematics, vocabulary etc. Learning an instrument also develops interpersonal skills and builds self confidence. Your child will experience a feeling like never before, the day they’re able to play their instrument and master a few chords or notes.

In comparison to other activities, based on one year enrollment, hockey can cost upwards of $1500 including equipment and travel, gymnastics and figure skating can cost upwards of $1500 including costumes, coaching and competition entry fees and the cost of Tae Kwon Do lessons is astronomical.

Why should my son or daughter take lessons at The Guitar World?

First and foremost, we consider our stores to be a very friendly, family oriented environment for purchasing musical instruments. This attitude is carried on to our musical instruction. We want our students to look forward to coming in for their lesson. By making learning fun and enjoyable, our students are more likely to continue playing their instrument, even after their lesson block has finished.

What credentials do your instructors have?

We go through a very rigorous interview process when hiring our teachers. Our teachers’ abilities range from University degrees in music, degrees from the Humber School of Jazz to real world professional “rock” musicians. Our teachers are quite fluent in the following styles: Classical, Rock, Jazz, Country, Folk, Metal and even the new punk music. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, The Guitar World can help take you to the next level.

How long are the lessons?

Lessons are booked in ½ hour sessions. Students select a time that best suits their schedule. For example, if you would like to take your lesson at 5:30pm on Tuesdays, we'll book you in for that time and YOU OWN THAT SPOT - same time, same day and same instructor every week.

Where are the lessons taught?

The Guitar World features private one-on-one musical instruction in our acoustically tuned lesson studios.

Payments & Fees

Guitar and Drum lessons are $22 per half hour. Piano lessons are $25 per half hour and vocal lessons are $30 per half hour.

The Guitar World DOES NOT CHARGE a registration/enrollment fee. Students simply pay one calender month in advance. For example, if there are 4 Tuesdays in September, you prepay $88 (guitar lessons are $22 per session). If there are 5 Tuesdays in October, the charge is $110, and so on ...

Do you offer any other music lessons?

Yes. We offer a wide range of music instruction. Please contact your local store to find out what is available in your area For more information or to pre-register, please send us an email:

Are lessons just for kids or beginners?

Absolutely Not! We cater to people of all ages. In fact it’s not rare to see a senior citizen taking a lesson as a hobby in their older years. On occasion we’ve had seasoned players come in to learn new guitar techniques or learn that final part of Van Halen’s Eruption that they just couldn’t master on their own. However, the majority of our students are beginners.

How much are the lessons?

This is where we stand alone. Unlike our competition, we don’t ask you to commit to dozens of lessons up front. We also don’t sell lessons by semester. Semester systems are similar to college classes. You pay up front for either half or the whole year and if for any reason you can’t attend any lessons, your money is gone. At The Guitar World, we ask you to commit to a block of only 5 lessons at a time. For those just wanting to check out a lesson, we allow one single session before deciding to commit to the 5-lesson block. We also have a very flexible cancellation policy. If for any reason you cannot attend your lesson, with 48 hours notice we will be able to re-schedule your lesson and you will not be charged for that lesson. We allow 1 cancellation within the appropriate 48 hours notice per 5 lesson block.

Please contact your local Guitar World store to inquire about lesson pricing. Space is limited so contact us today.

Remember, learning to play a musical instrument is a lifelong gift. Don’t you wish your parents took you to music lessons when you were young?
